Hayburn Labs (2025-)

In early 2025 I took over a small industrial unit that had previously been a car body repair shop. It has mains electricity, so Lister was put out to pasture (literally in a shed on someone’s farm now I think)
This is what it looked like when I moved in. Doing it up has turned into a project of epic proportions which I’ll write about in future.
Container Labs (2023-2025)

In 2023 I moved my workshop into a 20ft container on Hillington industrial estate. I’ve always been fascinated by renewable energy and off-grid power, so I thought I’d jump right in and try to run a workshop with no mains electricity.
So far this has been a success and in 2024 I expanded into the container next door.
The Container Labs microgrid grew from a car battery in a plastic tub, to two battery/inverter units plus a diesel generator.
